Phase 6

Children move onto Phase 6 in Year 2, with the aim of becoming fluent readers and accurate spellers.

By this stage, children have the strategies required to read 100s of words. They will also learn about prefixes and suffixes, the past tense, proof-reading, using an apostrophe and spelling rules.
