This half term, we will be exploring the enquiry question – ‘What can we see in the woodland?’ We will be learning all about animals that we can see in a woodland habitat, where they live and what they eat.
We will be focusing on quality texts linked to this theme and will have lots of exciting learning opportunities in our classroom for the children to explore.
In English, we will be continuing to use Talk for Writing to help us learn different texts. We will be focusing on the stories ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, ‘The Gruffalo’ and ‘Owl Babies’. We will be applying the skills we have learnt in Phonics to help us read and write simple words and captions.
In Phonics, we will begin to learn our new Phase 3 phonemes. We will learn what each grapheme looks like and will practice reading and writing words containing each sound. The children will continue to bring home flashcards every week for the new phonemes we have learnt.
In Maths, we will continue our journey to become Mathematical Masters. We will be exploring different ways to make 5 and will be learning about the numbers 6 and 7.
This half term we will be going 'Out of this World!' and exploring the enquiry question 'What is it like in space and how do I get there?'
This topic will see Little Acorns going on an adventure into Space! We will be investigating what we can see in space, discovering all about Neil Armstrong and learning about and making our own mini versions of our Solar System. We are hoping to discover some astronauts of the future in Little Acorns!
This half term we will be exploring the enquiry question “Who Am I?”. As the question suggests, we will be learning all about ourselves and what makes us special. We will have a range of different themes we will cover throughout this topic:
Throughout this half term we shall be using Talk for Writing to help us learn key nursery rhymes including Humpty Dumpty and Old McDonald Had a Farm. We shall also be exploring different stories based around ourselves including The Colour Monster, Rainbow Fish and Elmer.
