Phase 1

The children’s Phonics journey begins as soon as the children start Pre-School with Phase 1 Phonics. They will begin to explore and experiment with sounds and distinguish between sounds in the environment. Without these key listening skills, children may struggle to master the next stage of their Phonics learning.

Phase 1 is made up of 7 different aspects: environmental sounds, instrumental sounds, body percussion, rhythm and rhyme, alliteration, voice sounds and oral blending and segmenting.
