Phase 5

Throughout Year 1, the children will master Phase 5.

The children will start to be introduced to some alternative spellings for sounds. They learn new graphemes and alternative pronunciations for these.

At the end of Year 1, all children complete the Phonics Screening Check to ensure they have mastered the appropriate knowledge.
