Far Forest Lea MemorialCE Primary School

Fir Class

Welcome to Fir Class!

In Fir Class our teacher is Miss Stanley. We are very lucky to be joined by Mrs Cowdery who helps us with our learning every day. In Fir Class, some of us are in Year 1 and some of us are in Reception.

In Fir Class, we do a lot of our learning through play. We have lots of fun and exciting activities set up in our classroom to develop the skills we are learning and have learnt. We enjoy exploring the different areas in our classroom, especially our fantastic outdoor area. We always enjoy challenging ourselves in Fir Class. Every week we have Rainbow Challenges to complete – we even get a little treat at the end of the week when we have completed them!

One of our favourite activities in Fir Class is Welly Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we go outside in our wellies and complete lots of different activities. We always have lots of fun, especially when we get to splash in puddles!

In the mornings, we cover Phonics, Literacy and Maths. We love learning new sounds in Phonics and seeing what story the Phonics Fairy is going to deliver. In Literacy, we use our Talk for Writing actions to help us learn lots of different stories and in Maths we are becoming masters of number! In the afternoons, we have our topic sessions. We also cover lots of different topics such as Marvellous Me and Once upon a Time throughout the year.

As well as learning at school, we also enjoy learning at home! Every week, we get 3 new books to take home. Our favourites are always our ‘Story Sacks’, where we have puppets to retell stories with! We also enjoy completing our Learning Logs every half term. We have lots of exciting activities to complete with our grown-ups such as making Christmas tree decorations, going on number hunts and talking about our favourite stories.

We hope you enjoy looking at all the exciting things we have been doing!
