Dear Parents/ Carers,

Welcome back to another exciting year at pre-school we have lots of fun activities and events planned to support your children in their learning and development and gain valuable skills that will enable them to flourish and grow as the year goes on.

This letter is to give you an overview of the autumn term but as always if you have any concerns or queries, either about your child or pre-school in general, please do not hesitate to pop in and see a member of staff. Just a reminder that you can see what your child has been doing at preschool by looking at our page on the school website. Select ‘Children at work’ and click on ‘Little Acorns’ this will bring up a list of activities. Click on the title of one to see the children having fun and learning through their play. We aim to update this weekly so keep visiting.

Staffing
Pre-school will continue to be staffed by Mrs Stevens, Mrs Bullock and Miss Scrivens. Mrs Stevens will be out of the room on a Wednesday to complete admin work and Mrs Bullock will be working Monday to Thursday. Mrs Bullock will be running sessions each day for children who are receiving support from the speech and language service and children who we feel would benefit from some extra support in this area. All the children will be placed in Key worker groups with a member of staff and will sit in these groups for lunch, snacks and small group activities. We hope these groups will encourage conversation, build friendships and forge strong links with members of staff.

Activities and Themes
Our main theme this term will be ‘All About Me’ and we will be talking about our families, where we live, our bodies and things we like to do. Alongside this we will be celebrating seasonal events such as the arrival of Autumn, Harvest Festival, Children in Need, Bonfire night and of course Christmas! Our outdoor area is now a building site providing the children with some exciting role play activities. We are also planning a ‘Pirate’ theme for our STEM (Science, technology, engineering and maths) learning. Each week the pirates will lose their treasure and pre-schoolers will be challenged with finding it! We will also have a colour theme running through our activities starting with blue.

As always we like to spend time outside each day so please send children with sun hats, coats and sensible shoes, depending on the weather. Please send a change of clothes each day as we often get wet or messy and accidents do happen when the children get involved in activities.

Early years funding this term will be for 13 weeks and parents will only be invoiced if their children attend for extra sessions. Booked, unfunded sessions are charged each week and must be paid for when children are on holiday or off sick. We would like to ask all families for a voluntary contribution of £5 each half term to buy extra snacks, treats and cooking ingredients for the children. These enable us to plan special activities, parties and themed lunches and to taste different foods and enjoy some home baking.

Once again we would like to thank all our families for their continued support, working closely with parents and carers enables us to plan and provide activities to support all the children’s individual needs

Many Thanks
The Pre-school Team
